Skeletal Pathologies
HIP AND ELBOW DYSPLASIA (Golden e Flat)
The minimum age required to be subjected to x-ray examination is 12 months. Females should not take this exam when close to the oestrous cycle.
The examination is performed under sedation.
Only certified veterinarians can officially perform these radiological examinations. In Italy the list of officially certified veterinarians can be found on the following websites:
www.celemasche.it or www.fondazionesaluteaniale.it
Procedure of the examination for the exemption from skeletal pathologies:
- X-rays are performed by a certified veterinarian who checks, first of all, that the microchip of the dog corresponds to the one appearing on the official pedigree. Sedation is administered and upon completion of the radiological exam, X-ray plates are sent together with the pedigree to CE.LE.MA.SCHE or to the FSA for official Italian readings or BVA www.bva.co.uk for official English readings. Results are printed on the pedigree which is then returned to the owner.
